Mazeworks

Description

Mazeworks are characterized by multiple surface openings which lead to several interconnected shafts and tunnels with highly variable orientations (90-0 degrees). Mazeworks tend to be composed of several other identifiable burrow architectures including vertical shafts, subvertical tunnels, J-, and U-shaped burrows. The overall architecture of the mazework consists of several vertical components leading to a number of interconnected horizontal components along a single plane. Shafts and tunnels are elliptical to circular in cross section and may be straight to curved. One or more portions of the tunnels and shafts may be enlarged to form chambers. Mazeworks are used as permanent dwellings.
